Politics of Hate

I just followed a link claiming lefties are almost all haters unlike the right.

It probably wont surprise anyone thats its written by Daniel Hannan Tory MEP. And that its in the daily mail. The surprise is the hypocrisy. The mail is a right wing paper brim full of hate, so to say the right doesnt hate in the mail is just rubbish.

Now Hannan is one of those rare MEP that are well known. And unfortunately for him we remember why he is known. He told the yanks that the NHS was rubbish. Even Cameron had to disagree with this tosh. Would Hannan admit to hating the NHS perhaps.

He is also mistaken when he says only the scottish socialists (and he says the bnp?) would reverse Thatchers privatisation legacy. Greens would, starting I think with railways. Now I wouldnt nationalise the car/shipbuilding industry, as we dont have one anymore. Or the phone industry, though I would improve regulations to increase clarity over contracts, many people dont realise what they are getting locked into.

I would nationalise the banks that we already own most of, so we have more say in what they do with our money. And the water industry, indeed all utilities. They dont really compete, just sell off assets for profit while not investing in the furure.

And put the NHS, scools and royal mail totally in public ownership.

So the right hates about as much as the left. I think the difference is the right wants the rich to get richer, the left want to spread the wealth to everyone.

I never thought of myself as left or right. But when Blair moved Labour to the right it made me feel left of him. But I define myself as a green not a lefty.

I dont much read them these days, im online mostly. Prefer the Indi or grauniad if I do read one, if that tells you anything. Whats your view?

I try to read at least 2 papers a day , quite often the Mail and one other. Its interesting sometimes how the Mail can be quite critical of the Tories when they could avoid doing that. Basically the wider the selection, the more likely to get the facts correct.
I think the term 'right wing' is used far too often. This current government is nothing like right wing, much more in the middle ground.

Interestingly have you heard about the new scheme for solar panels and how RBS are going to be lending the money for installation to those who would like them?

You didnt say what papers you consider right wing. There are plenty of Tories To the right if Cam, his policies are to the right though his PR has been to appeal to the middle. He would probably say centre right

Havr to get back to you ob the rbs solar.

A friend is going on the course the week after next. I'll find out all the details then , but it sounds like RBS buy the system and get repaid from the FIT after which the income goes to the householder. It sounds almost like any suitable property will qualify without the owner needing to cough up loadsa cash.
Apparantly there are also panels available now which are more efficient so less will be required to make the system.
