Surviving Progress

What an eye opening film. Interviews with some very knowledgeable people about whats going wrong with the planet.

One interesting idea was the progress trap, people think something is going well but actually it ends in disaster. Past empires ended in this way, why cant we as thinking beings change direction to a sustainable way of living.

Based around the book "A Short History of Progress" by Ronald Wright

"He uses the fallen civilisations of Easter Island, Sumer, Rome, and Maya, as well as examples from the Stone Age, to see what conditions led to the downfall of society. He examines the meaning of progress and its implications for civilizations – past and present – arguing that the twentieth century was a time of runaway growth in human population, consumption, and technology that has now placed an unsustainable burden on all natural systems."
