How odd to find you , me and many other people in the same camp as the BNP on this issue !
Much of the press are trying to scaremonger the public into voting NO by stating that AV would let in extreme parties and create permanent coalition government, when the truth is that AV ia simply a different and fairer way of counting the votes in the FPTP system.
Rob Wilson is one of those MPs who is spreading these untruths and it must be said that those who do so are either liars or fools.

Hello Howard

What do you mean by 'liars or fools'?

I'm against AV as are everyone who doesn't support a minority (haven't really got a chance) party.

Hi Adrian . Yes you are quite right. The point I should have made was relating to Rob Wilson and his comments about AV letting in extremist parties and the fact that the BNP and most of the Tories are on the same side on this one!, not like you and me and anyone else that would like to see a fairer voting system in this country. AV is quite obviously not PR , but at least a yes vote would show that as a country we are capable of change.
PR would be the best system to have , I expect you would agree, and such a system would let in smaller parties to have a say and that would no doubt include the Greens , but also the BNP.
Distasteful as that might be , the arguement has to be that if a big enough percentage of the electorate vote for a party then those people should be represented. The 'trick' to deal with the BNP is for the mainstrem parties to address the issues that drive very reasonable people to vote for them out of frustration that nothing gets done by the main parties on the immigration issue and the EU question.

Not wanting the bnp is all very well, but they have not prospered under our system. Where they have won a few council seats they then loose them. I expect they will loose their MEPs soon, voters dont like being fooled.

If some Tories are that worried about the possibility of the bnp winning something perhaps they should openly support dictatorship.

gideon mack .....simple really.......people that deliberately spread untruth are liars.....those that do it unknowingly are fools !

AV will not cause permanent hung parliaments or allow the BNP to get seats.

Adrian voters " don't like being fooled" but as a nation we put up with it by continuing to vote in either a blue or red dictatorship that can achieve a big majority with as little as 36% of the votes cast.( eg Tony Blair) AV isn't going to change that despite the rubbish being circulated by sections of the mainstream press and various MPs.
In truth all AV will do is to ensure that an MP must have had a mark of some sort of 1st,2nd,3rd preference from at least 50% of those that cast their votes, and no more than that.
