Join ‘The Wave’ - the UK’s biggest ever demonstration in support of action on climate change. London, 5 Dec 2009

Join ‘The Wave’ - the UK’s biggest ever demonstration in support of action on climate change. London, 5 Dec 2009 'Wave' event!
On Saturday December 5th thousands of people will form a massive demonstration on climate change.
There will be a large gathering of people from all around the country taking part in The Wave march together:
We will meet at the North Audley Street entrance to Grovsvenor Square starting from 11:15am and intend to move into the square as a group together at around 12noon. The plan is to encircle parliament by 3pm. Dress code: blue.

There will be members of over 100 organisations coming along. The heat is on to quit dirty coal and deliver a fair international climate deal that keeps global warming under two degrees C.

12 noon Speakers Corner, Hyde park.

Speakers include Michael Meacher MP, Simon Hughes MP, John McDonnell MP, Caroline Lucas MEP, Maria Sauveron (Bolivian ambassador), John Stewart (HACAN – anti Heathrow 3rd runway), Chris Baugh ( Public and Commercial Services Union) and Sasha Pratt (UK Youth Climate Coalition).

Musical interludes will be provided by Seize the Day.

Some of us from Reading will gather infront of Reading Station to travel together on the train using the 4for2 ticket deal.
Any one that would like to join the 'train gang' should arrive in front of the station at 10:15. Departure to London is planned for 10:30.
Otherwise you could book a bus ticket to travel with CAFOD or use the mega bus website:
TEL 01189696219 01252329385 Email rita.belletty@talktalk.net or portsmouth@cafod.org.uk (£10 from Reading station)
www.megabus.com/uk promo code:RSPB01 (£4.50 return from Calcot)
(as you might expect - buses leave earlier in the morning!)

We should have a banner or two available to wave around but if you would like to make something more then please bring that along too!

It feels like a buzz is building about the wave, and we're hearing new stories all the time about things people are doing to draw attention to the Wave - e.g. a bike stunt in Letchworth the weekend before The Wave, and health professionals organising a feeder event on the morning of the 5th, where they plan to wear blue surgical scrubs or white coats, and bring a hospital bed on The Wave! You can also expect to see on The Wave (amongst other things): a Neptune prop, a giant wave on wheels, a Welsh blue dragon, a copse of trees, lots of surfers and of course a shoal of mermaids!

So with less than 2 weeks left, there is a last push to get those hugely impressive numbers of people out on December 5th. If you can all spend an hour or two spreading the word, it will make a massive difference. You could:

- Put up posters and flyers in your local high streets and public places
- Hand out flyers in key areas
- Tell people about The Wave and/ or distribute flyers at local meetings
