Blockade AWE 27th October

On Monday 27th October 2008 Trident Ploughshares will be facilitating a great opportunity to carry out a non-violent blockade of the Atomic Weapons Establishment, Aldermaston. We aim to obstruct the research, development and manufacture of nuclear weapons of mass destruction at this death factory. We will challenge the people working there to engage in dialogue with us.

Please would you share this information with your members/supporters? You can help make this blockade a big one.

We have been part of the creative non-violent anti-Trident actions of Faslane 365 , Block the Builders and most recently of CND’s 3,000+, “Bomb Stops Here” encirclement of the A W E on Easter Monday. We want to keep up the pressure to halt the development of the Trident replacement.

The nonviolent and safety guidelines which all participants are asked to pledge to while involved in any Trident Ploughshares action are;

1. I will not engage in physical violence or verbal abuse toward any individual and will carry no weapons.
2. I will not bring or use any alcohol or drugs other than for medical purposes.
3. I will respect all the various agreements concerning the actions.
4. I will act safely at all times and act responsibly to ensure that no harm comes to any living being including myself.

Creative activities in keeping with these guidelines are welcome.

Please give what support your organisation/network feels it can. Most important is the presence of your members/supporters on the day. Please alert all of them. A leaflet is available on the website For more copies contact; Ann Kobayashi, 44 Haslemere Road, Wickford, Essex, SS11 7LE or ring 0845 4588 361.

There is much determination and experience behind this initiative but not much money. Financial contributions are therefore very welcome. Cheques may be made out to Trident Ploughshares (ML) and sent marked to Trident Ploughshares October Blockade, 15 Zion House, Jubilee St., and London, E1 3EN.
