These are the words of Jimmy Reid, 1932 to 2010. He declared "A rat race is for rats. We're not rats. We're human beings". He died last week.
He left the communist party in 1976 to join labour. He left labour when Tony Blair took over and in 2005 joined the SNP. He remained true to his principles.
He was a strong unionist, opposing the closing of the upper clyde shipyard. It remains open.

Abused apostrophe!
I wrote this on my mobile, not sure how to put apostrophes in.
But you do know how to put in a space and an "a"?
To err is human. I err quite a bit with typos & spelling.
BUt hopefully not on election leaflets?
Can I add to the nitpicking by pointing out that you can't really describe someone who is a member of the SNP as a unionist. Maybe you mean a trade unionist?
Election leaflets are checked carefully.
Jimmy Reaid was a well known activist for Unions, hence describing him as a unionist. The subject of the union of the united kingdom is not really relevant here.
