Eco School Petition

Photobucket

The government should enable all Schools in the UK to install renewable energy technologies (such as wind turbines, solar panels and geothermal) to educate the next generation on sustainability.

Renewable energy technologies can be used as an educational tool in science lessons, whilst generating a useful output of energy for the school. In the right location renewable energy can be an economic opportunity and reduce the school's energy bills. It also reduces carbon dioxide emissions for years to come. Schools currently do not have the capacity to invest in renewable energy and there are barriers such as planning permission.

To support renewable energy the government could, for example, provide interest-free loans that can be paid back by the savings made. The government should set the target of installing renewable energy in all UK schools as a priority; to enable a sustainable future for current and future generations.

The government could have made it law to install all the 'green gadgets' like geothermals and solar panels on all new properties.........at no cost to the government!......but they didn't do that either!
Obviously those in government know something that we don't.

Who would pay for it then?

Wake up Adrian...........the developer !!!

Howard, I suggest you read about the Merton rule, which forces developers to include renewable energy when building blocks of houses.

Hmmmm......In Merton......and their way of doing this appears to be efficient lighting systems and insulation.......not much mention of geothermal and solar panels. Kind of makes my point really.....the government has done virtually nothing compared to what they could do.

Did you read the link? Do you ever read what I say?

The merton rule would have 10% renewables, it should have been rolled out across the country.

Schools are a little different, developers are often local authorities, so Im not sure if it would work.

Read the petition, it asks for schools to be allowed to go greener, where now they are prevented by planners.

Yes Adrian.....I did read it and it is cobblers.....It only goes to enforce what I said that the government (yes the government!)have done next to nothing much........and Merton haven't insisted that all the green devices are used!

Your comments indicate that you haven't read it. So not much point saying much more.
