Car Club up and running

You can now join the new not-for-profit car club in Reading at www.commonwheels.org.uk/index.html

Commonwheels provides cars, which can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You can book a car over the phone or through our website, for a minimum of half an hour up to however long you need it. If you’re on a journey and need the car for longer than expected, simply contact us (one button push and we’ll call you on the vehicle’s built-in hands-free phone) and if the car's available, we'll extend your booking.

Membership is free!

As a member of Commonwheels, you only pay for what you use. Each time you drive the car, you pay an hourly rate for the duration of the trip, and a small mileage fee. This covers everything, so you need never worry about fuel, insurance, MOTs, tax or maintenance costs again!

What it costs

We want to keep the costs reasonable and have set the following tariff. Corporate membership and deals with property developers are negotiated separately.

To see how much you could save by joining Commonwheels, use the car cost calculator on the car clubs UK website.

It is great to see Commonwheels listed on the blog. Just wanted to say that we are really pleased with the support we are getting from people in Reading. Our first car is parked on Kings Road, at Wycliffe Church so do pass on the news to anyone you know in that area.

We are always keen to hear ideas for new locations - people who would like access to a car and also any good parking spots we may be able to use.
Do get in touch with any comments to info@commonwheels.org.uk thanks, Jane
