They would become toxic politically and lose their foothold on the council and become Reading's own version of Nick Clegg.Alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00536539676145918691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9204966244105335828.post-29969577195908765242011-05-09T07:16:40.156+01:002011-05-09T07:16:40.156+01:00I'm relying on the Green party to supply some ...I'm relying on the Green party to supply some real Green policies but please not at the cost of supporting the corrupt Lib Dems and their Conservative owners.Just Another Mortalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09852165116960830387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9204966244105335828.post-44959348126615950622011-05-09T07:15:05.813+01:002011-05-09T07:15:05.813+01:00not blanknot blankJust Another Mortalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09852165116960830387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9204966244105335828.post-24224771970218217512011-05-08T21:40:33.313+01:002011-05-08T21:40:33.313+01:00Cheers all for interesting comments

That would be the end of coalitions, probably a good thing. And all cllrs would be involved, not just a select few.

On the other hand if a party were to convince us they would have some real Green policies we would have to take that seriously.Adrian Windischhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16306364832746111534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9204966244105335828.post-72897484398505471022011-05-08T20:22:24.031+01:002011-05-08T20:22:24.031+01:00I also said - from experience - that Reading Labou...I also said - from experience - that Reading Labour are too arrogant to be able to work with anyone, and a minority administration is the most likely option.Gareth Eppshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18198368251505541728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9204966244105335828.post-56908679163939846182011-05-08T20:08:57.112+01:002011-05-08T20:08:57.112+01:00In terms of using your position to make a differen...In terms of using your position to make a difference for Reading, that is probably more likely to happen if you go into a rainbow coalition or at least demonstrate that there is a real possibility that you could.

A lot of people see the Greens as the hippie branch of the labour party, and that includes many people within the labour party.

If the people in Park ward had wanted a labour council, they would have voted labour.
